Family Time

When hubby and I got married, we relocated over an hour and a half away from family. We love where we are now, but it does mean we don’t get to see Grandparents and the children don’t get to play with their cousins very often, so when we do I love watching them have fun together.

The other week, we finally got back to Hertfordshire for a visit and family time. The kids had a great time playing with their twin cousins. Pinky and Boo showed them how to play with their my little pony castle. It was lovely to watch and listen to the girls explaining what each thing did etc.

Grandad is a very serious bus enthusiast and BB totally delights in seeing Grandad’s bus collection. This time BB was allowed to play with the very precious and old ticket machine the bus conductors used to use. He loved going round issuing tickets to everyone.

Then they were allowed to play with a big red tin bus. Everyone had a great time with it, though the twin boys did have a few moments of ‘not sharing issues’, but it was all sorted in the end.

After a while, we all headed outside for a walk in the woods. It was a lovely day, though rather muddy under foot. The children loved squelching through the mud to see how muddy they could get their boots without getting stuck.

We saw some horses in the field and stopped for a little chat.

We walked past a couple of ponds and the children enjoyed throwing in some sticks. Sticks always seem to offer great entertainment when out on a walk.

I tried to get a nice photograph of all the children together, but of course getting 5 children aged 2-6 to cooperate for a photo is not easy, so this is the best I got.

Boo found a ‘fairy door’ as she called it in a tree and was knocking on it to see if anyone was in! That was so cute.

After a while we headed back to Nana and Grandad’s house, as the 2 year old’s would not have walked much further.

We had a nice morning together and it’s always lovely to see cousins playing together. My girls are really trying to mother the boys now, it’s so sweet!

  1. We also live a reasonable distance from family so family time is orchestrated and precious #letkidsbekids

  2. Beautiful family time are memories the kids will never forget. My kids love spending time with their cousins, especially on holidays away.

  3. It’s great that you managed to find some time to see the family. The two lots of twins playing together sounds really cute, it’s lovely that your 2 girls showing the 2 boys their toys. It looks like a lovely family walk, offering some great bonding opportunities with both the Grandparents and the cousins.
