New Forest Half-Term Break

Last weekend we were lucky enough to go to the New Forest for a few days. We absolutely love it there and autumn is definitely our favourite time of year to visit. The rain stayed away, so we were able to appreciate lots of the great outdoors!

One of the things we love to do every single time we visit (without fail) is walk down to the cliff top and onto the beach. It is such a beautiful coastline overlooking the Isle of Wight and the Needles. The wind blows strong, fills your lungs with amazing quantities of fresh air, the sea is permanently in motion, churning white frothy waves to sit and observe. The seagulls fly over head and the children run up and down the beach, they try burying each other in the stones (not very successfully I might add), then even take to rolling down the stoney banks! An absolutely magical place and time.

We had a gorgeous hot chocolate from our fantastic Thermos flask on the beach, observing life by the sea and all the vibrant beach huts.

You cannot go to the New Forest without a walk in the forest, so we headed over to Moors Valley, again a fantastic place we have visited before. We saw the Gruffalo’s child trail, but decided to check out the play trail instead along with a walk round the lake. There is so much to see and do in such a beautiful and fun environment. The kids loved climbing, running, jumping and playing in/on all the play trail things. It’s wonderful watching the children play like this in the forest.

The children played on the amazing playgrounds. They climbed the ropes and BB impressed us all by climbing right to the top! He was so pleased with himself.

We had another opportunity to check out our Thermos flasks with a coffee and hot chocolate. It stayed hot and the kids thought this was wonderful, as you can see from the smiles on their faces! The flasks really do provide you with a hot drink (no leakages) for all the family! We will definitely be using these on a regular basis!

We had a wonderful few days in a beautiful environment with lots of opportunities for fun. We also went swimming and the children had a great time at the disco in the evening. I think this was a great way to revive the kids after their first half term at school.

  1. We love Moors Valley too, we sometimes pop down there on a day trip. Glad your week away went well and that the weather played ball!

  2. It is a really lovely time to have a little staycation isn’t it? I love the New Forest too, the fact that it has both beaches and all the beautiful forest with it’s wild ponies makes it such a special place.

  3. It looks like you all had a great time away. The kids look so pleased to be having hot chocolate out and about! What a beautiful place to relax and recuperate after a long first half term at school!
